Boardwalk Talk: The Wilderness of North Florida’s Parks Presented by Kathy Stark

June 17, 2021 - 6:30 pm -7:30 pm

Beaches Museum

Kathy Stark will talk about her work featured in the current exhibit Timucuan Park Foundation’s “Celebrate & Explore Our Parks” and her project “The Wilderness of North Florida’s Parks” which consists of her book and traveling art exhibit and the process of how she became a parks ambassador. It will be a visual presentation on the parks, history and art in the Jacksonville community. She now serves on the board of Timucuan Parks Foundation and helped create the current exhibit. A book signing will follow the presentation.

A Jacksonville artist and native, Kathy offers a unique, family-friendly exploration of the extensive system of natural parks in North Florida with her traveling exhibit and book titled “The Wilderness of North Florida’s Parks.” Stark combines her expansive watercolor paintings with sketches, historical facts and maps to create an exhibit that is a unique blend of art and education, serving as a tribute and guide to the great unspoiled stretches of our region.

Former Governor and Senator Bob Graham and Florida Times-Union columnist and author Mark Woods both provide commentary in the book. The exhibit and book are an outgrowth of Stark’s personal passion for the outdoors and her love of the natural beauty of North Florida. Her project is sponsored by Merrill Lynch and in partnership with Timucuan Parks Foundation.

Kathy’s work has been collected both privately and corporately and has been shown in museums and galleries in Northeast Florida and beyond. Her website is www.kathystark.com and project Facebook page is The Wilderness of North Florida’s Parks.
