January 11, 2016 - 7:00 pm -10:00 pm

Beaches Museum Chapel

Beaches Museum Chapel ConcertsThe Beaches Museum and History Park invites music lovers to join them on January 11, for the first performance of 2016 in their ongoing Chapel Concert series.

On that date Miami native Roosevelt Collier will demonstrate his unique talent and mastery of the pedal steel guitar. Known to fans as “The Dr.”, he stretches the boundaries of sounds that can be produced by the steel guitar, and in the process leaves an indelible mark on his listeners.

He originally performed with the Lee Boys, a six-member sacred-steel group comprising family members. The group and their blues-meets-gospel formula began to play to audiences outside churches where they found a loyal following on the jam-band circuit and also performed at international venues. As he moved on into solo performances Collier’s live shows packed with raw passion have found an even larger fan base. He has shared the stage with Rolling Stones saxophonist Karl Denson, Umphrey’s McGee, Perpetual Groove and the Allman Brothers Band.

The music begins on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $20 in advance $25 day of show, and may be purchased at the Beaches Museum or online at www.beachesmuseum.org. Mojo’s BBQ will provide delicious food at 6:00 PM for a suggested $10 donation. This performance is made possible by the generous support of the Gasper and Irene Lazzara Charitable Foundation.
